Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup nuts
- 1 egg white
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Cream shortening and add sugar, beaten eggs, sifted dry ingredients, and flavoring. Spread mixture on cooky sheet and sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Several kinds of nuts are nice, but one kind will do. Beat egg white and fold in brown sugar and vanilla. Spread meringue over nuts. Bake in a moderate oven. Cut in squares when cooked. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
