Golden Cakes

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter or margarine
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 4 egg yolks
• 1 egg white
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

1. 1Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and cream together. Beat egg yolks and whites well and add to first mixture. Mix and sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add flavorings. Turn into individual pans and bake in a moderate oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with boiled frosting, using whites of eggs in frosting. Decorate with maraschino cherries.
