Chocolate Sponge Cake

Ingredients

• 2 cups brown sugar
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 square chocolate
• 1/2 cup sour milk
• 2 egg yolks
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 1 cup boiling water
• 2 egg whites

Instructions

1. Cream sugar with melted butter and chocolate, add milk and beat thoroughly. Add egg yolks, vanilla, flour mixed with soda and boiling water. Reserve a small portion of flour to add after the boiling water, then beat until very smooth and light. Lastly, add beaten whites. This makes a large loaf cake. Bake in moderate oven for 40 minutes at 300 degrees.
