Parboil potatoes five minutes in boiling water to cover, and drain. Add potatoes to fat, cook until potatoes are soft, add corn and milk, and heat to boiling point. Season with salt and pepper. Add the crackers or toast soaked in enough milk to moisten. Remove crackers, turn chowder into a tureen, and put crackers on top. Servings, 5.
