Plain Pastry

Ingredients

• 1 cup flour
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 cup shortening
• Water

Instructions

1. 1Sift flour with the salt. Work in shortening until the mixture is like coarse meal. Add water gradually until just enough is used to hold the dough together. It must not be at all soft. Turn on to a board, pat, and roll out.
