Maple Syrup Cake

Ingredients

• 1 1/4 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 egg yolk
• 3/4 cup maple syrup
• 1 tablespoon shortening
• 6 tablespoons milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

1. 1Mix and sift dry ingredients.
2. 2Beat egg yolk, syrup, and shortening together then combine all ingredients and beat thoroughly.
3. 3Bake in a moderate oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Use Maple Syrup Frosting (see page 195).
