Devil's Food

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 2 cups brown sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup sour milk
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon soda
• 1/2 cup water

Instructions

1. 1Mix cocoa and sugar, and cream with shortening.
2. 2Add sour milk, flour, and salt.
3. 3Dissolve soda in water and add last.
4. 4Beat well and bake in layers in a moderate oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
