Ingredients
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and egg beaten well. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Turn into buttered cake pan and bake in a moderate oven. Serve with Vanilla Sauce (see page 165). Bake in the oven for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
