Why a Family Website?
We've been meaning to do this for a while. In a world of social media feeds and algorithmic timelines, we wanted a place that was truly ours — somewhere to share stories, photos, and updates on our own terms.
No ads. No algorithms. Just us.
What You'll Find Here
This site is our digital home base. Here's what we're planning:
- Blog posts about life, projects, and whatever catches our interest
- Photo albums from trips, holidays, and everyday moments
- Events so family and friends know what's coming up
- Family updates for the quick, day-to-day stuff
The Tech Behind It
For the technically curious: this site runs on a homelab server in our living room. It's a Next.js app deployed on a K3s Kubernetes cluster, with a PostgreSQL database and MDX for blog content.
Building things is more fun when you can share them with the people you care about.
Yes, it's overengineered for a family blog. But where's the fun in doing it the easy way?
What's Next
