Our Dallas Adventure
After the big move to Dallas, we're settling in and exploring our new city. Here are some highlights from our first few weeks.
The Move
Moving across the country is never simple, but we made it to Dallas in one piece. The truck was packed to the ceiling, the cat was not impressed, and we somehow managed to only lose one box (still looking for it — if you find a box labeled "kitchen misc," it's ours).
First Impressions
A few things we've noticed about Dallas so far:
- The food is incredible. Tex-Mex, barbecue, Vietnamese, Korean — we've barely scratched the surface and we're already eating well.
- Everything is big. The highways, the trucks, the parking lots, the portions. Texas doesn't do small.
- The sunsets are unreal. Something about the flat landscape and the wide sky makes every evening feel cinematic.
Favorite Spots So Far
We've been exploring whenever we get a chance. Some early favorites:
- White Rock Lake — Perfect for morning walks. The trail loops around the entire lake and the views are worth the sweat.
- Bishop Arts District — Great coffee shops, bookstores, and restaurants. Feels like a small town tucked inside a big city.
- Perot Museum — We spent an entire afternoon here. The kids area is top-notch, but honestly the adults had just as much fun.
Setting Up the House
The house is slowly coming together. We've unpacked the essentials (read: the coffee maker and the Wi-Fi router) and the rest is happening at a leisurely pace.
Home is wherever you set up the router.
The homelab was one of the first things to go online, naturally. Priorities.
Looking Ahead
We're excited to keep exploring Dallas and making this city feel like home. If you have any Dallas recommendations, we're all ears.
Stay tuned for more updates as we settle in.
